
AI with Python and Scratch – FUTURE-STEM-HUB presents its second course, Advanced AI: Hands-On Learning Materials Using Python and Scratch, a comprehensive educational resource designed to help secondary school students explore AI with Python and Scratch through engaging and practical activities.
Building on the introductory knowledge provided by the first FUTURE-STEM-HUB course, this new learning resource enables students to move from understanding the foundations of artificial intelligence to creating and experimenting with their own AI-enabled projects.
Practical AI with Python and Scratch
Course 2 focuses on learning by doing. Through practical programming exercises, students discover how artificial intelligence can be integrated into games and other digital projects using Python and Scratch.
The materials have been designed for secondary school students with different levels of technical proficiency. Learners with previous programming and STEM knowledge can work with Python and explore machine-learning algorithms and game development. Students with less programming experience can use Scratch to understand the same concepts in a more visual and accessible way.
This flexible structure makes AI with Python and Scratch more approachable, inclusive and engaging for a wide range of students.
What does Course 2 include?
The educational materials cover subjects such as:
- Machine learning and neural networks.
- Applications of artificial intelligence using Python.
- The development of AI-powered games.
- The use of Pygame and Arcade libraries.
- Artificial intelligence projects created with Scratch.
- Object recognition and other practical AI applications.
The activities combine explanations, examples, tutorials and practical challenges. Students are encouraged to experiment, solve problems and apply their knowledge by developing their own projects.
A multilingual digital course
The result also includes the interactive digital course Delving Deeper in AI with Python and Scratch. It contains written content, graphics, videos, quizzes, tutorials, sample code and links to useful community resources.
The course offers approximately four hours of learning content and more than five hours of practical exercises. It also allows learners to monitor their progress and obtain a certificate after completing the course.
Both the downloadable educational materials and the digital course are available in six languages:
- English.

- Bulgarian.
- Turkish.
- Portuguese.
This multilingual approach facilitates the use of the resources by teachers and students in different European countries.
Supporting innovative STEM education
Learning about AI with Python and Scratch allows students to develop more than programming knowledge. The activities also reinforce problem-solving, computational thinking, creativity, collaboration and digital competence.
The course provides teachers with adaptable resources that can be incorporated into STEM lessons and adjusted to the students’ previous experience. By combining artificial intelligence with game development and practical challenges, Course 2 helps make complex technological concepts easier to understand.
