What is the WANTOFISH project?

WANTOFISH — Developing a Digital-Based Curriculum of Water Footprint Awareness in Mediterranean Fisheries for Sustainable Resources in Europe — is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership in Higher Education.

The project aims to raise awareness of the importance of water resources and the water footprint associated with fisheries, aquaculture, fish processing and seafood production. It also seeks to provide students and professionals with the knowledge and practical tools required to support more sustainable water management across the Mediterranean fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

By combining scientific knowledge, digital education and international cooperation, WANTOFISH contributes to the development of more environmentally responsible practices and greater awareness of the relationship between water, food production and aquatic ecosystems.

A European partnership for sustainable aquatic resources

WANTOFISH is coordinated by Ege University in Türkiye and implemented by a consortium of six organisations from five European countries:

  • Ege University, Türkiye
  • University of Palermo, Italy
  • University of Dubrovnik, Croatia
  • Balıkesir University, Türkiye
  • University of Thessaly, Greece
  • M&M Profuture Training, S.L., Spain

The partners have contributed their expertise in fisheries, aquaculture, environmental sustainability, higher education, digital learning and professional training.
