European Cooperation for Water Footprint Awareness – WANTOFISH Erasmus+ project

On 29–30 September 2026, representatives of M&M Profuture Training joined the Final Transnational Project Meeting of WANTOFISH, hosted by Ege University in Izmir, Türkiye.

WANTOFISH (Developing a Digital-Based Curriculum of Water Footprint Awareness in Mediterranean Fisheries for Sustainable Resources in Europe) is an Erasmus+ project aimed at promoting water footprint awareness and sustainable resource management in fisheries and aquaculture through innovative educational approaches.

The meeting of WANTOFISH Erasmus+ project provided an opportunity for the partnership to review project achievements, assess educational outputs and coordinate the final dissemination and reporting activities.

WANTOFISH Erasmus+ project Partners M&M Profuture Training’s Contribution to Digital Learning and Dissemination

As a Spanish partner in the WANTOFISH consortium, M&M Profuture Training has contributed its expertise in digital education, e-learning and European project dissemination.

Our work has supported the development and accessibility of educational resources, the management and improvement of the project’s Moodle-based learning environment, and the communication of project results to wider audiences.

The online learning platform offers training materials in five languages: English, Turkish, Croatian, Greek and Italian, helping make knowledge about water footprint and sustainable fisheries more accessible.

By September 2026, the platform had reached 248 registered learners and 133 certificates issued.

Sharing Knowledge Through the WANTOFISH E-BookWANTOFISH Erasmus+ project Meeting

During the meeting, partners presented the WANTOFISH e-book, a collaborative publication addressing water footprint concepts and sustainable practices across fisheries, aquaculture and seafood processing.

The publication provides a valuable educational resource for students, teachers, researchers and professionals interested in environmental sustainability and responsible water management.

Together with the online courses, the e-book represents an important outcome of the partnership’s work to transform scientific knowledge into accessible learning opportunities.

Connecting Education with Real-World Aquaculture

The meeting also included a technical visit to a mussel farm in Izmir Bay, allowing partners to explore aquaculture practices and reflect on the relationship between environmental sustainability, water resources and professional education.

For M&M Profuture Training, this experience reinforced the importance of connecting educational innovation with real-world sector needs, a principle that guides our participation in European cooperation projects.
