Students Become AI Creators at Escola Internacional Teide Through the Future STEM Hub Contest
On 8 May 2026, students from Escola Internacional Teide took part in the exciting final event of the “AI Future Explorers: School Student Contest”, organised within the Erasmus+ project Future STEM Hub.
The activity aimed to encourage students to apply the knowledge acquired through the project’s educational guides, AI workshops and classroom preparation sessions in a creative and practical way.
Before the final contest, participants attended:
- an introductory workshop on Artificial Intelligence and programming,
- and two preparation sessions at school led by teachers.
During these sessions, students explored topics related to:
- Artificial Intelligence,
- computational thinking,
- Scratch programming,
- Python,
- digital creativity,
- and problem-solving through STEM education.
Six Teams, Six Innovative Ideas
A total of six student teams presented original projects combining creativity, technology and teamwork.
The projects developed by the students included:
- 📱 an app dictionary and translator designed to help adults understand modern youth expressions and slang,
- ➕ a mathematical game,
- ⚽ a sports skill game,
- 🐉 a virtual Dragon Ball card game,
- 🧟 a zombie-themed game,
- 🔐 and a Scratch-based escape room.
The contest demonstrated how students can move from learning theory to creating real digital solutions and interactive experiences.
Presentation and Evaluation
Each team presented its project before a jury composed of:
- teachers,
- workshop experts,
- and representatives from M&M Profuture Training.
The jury evaluated the projects according to several criteria, including:
- creativity,
- application of STEM and AI concepts,
- functionality,
- participation,
- and presentation skills.
Award Winners
The contest concluded with the delivery of special awards recognising students’ creativity and effort.
🏆 1st Prize
The winning project was the dictionary and translator app, which received cinema tickets as a prize.
🥈 2nd Prize
The second prize went to the Dragon Ball virtual card game, whose team received a bowling experience.
All participants also received certificates recognising their participation and involvement in the activity.
A Successful Educational Experience
The event was a great success and highlighted the importance of innovative STEM education, teamwork and digital creativity in schools.
Through initiatives such as the Future STEM Hub Contest, students are encouraged not only to learn about Artificial Intelligence and programming, but also to become active creators of technology.
The activity also reinforced the value of collaborative learning and practical experimentation in the classroom.
