Robots4Inclusion Training of Trainers in Barcelona: Preparing Educators for Inclusive Robotics

From 1 to 4 October 2024, M&M Profuture Training hosted an international Training of Trainers and Transnational Project Meeting in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona), Spain, as part of the Erasmus+ Robots4Inclusion project.

The event brought together representatives from six European partner organisations to explore how educational robotics, social-emotional learning (SEL) and inclusive teaching methodologies can be integrated into primary education.

Learning by Doing: An International Training Experience

From 1 to 3 October 2024, project partners participated in a 12-hour Training of Trainers programme designed to prepare local trainers to support primary school teachers in implementing the Robots4Inclusion educational intervention.

The training followed a practical, learning-by-doing methodology, combining hands-on activities, collaborative reflection and the exploration of innovative educational tools.

The programme focused on three complementary areas:

  • Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) – led by M&M Profuture Training (Spain).
  • Cohesive Inclusive Education – led by Foyle Internship Europe (Ireland).
  • Inclusive Educational Robotics – led by the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany).

Together, these areas provided an interdisciplinary approach to creating more inclusive learning environments.

Exploring TOKADI and Educational Robotics

An important part of the training involved exploring how educational robots can support collaborative learning and social interaction among children.

Participants worked with TOKADI, the educational robot developed within the project, and explored practical activities involving ScratchJr, Scratch and Scratch Tactile.

The sessions also addressed key questions:

  • How can educational robots become useful classroom resources?
  • How can TOKADI support inclusive learning experiences?
  • How can robotics activities contribute to children’s social and emotional development?
  • How can storytelling, activity cards and structured interventions support teachers?

Through practical exercises, group discussions and reflection, participants explored ways to adapt these approaches to future teacher training activities.

Preparing Trainers to Support Primary School Teachers

One of the main objectives of the Barcelona training was to equip representatives from partner organisations with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver local training sessions.

The participants represented organisations from Germany, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Spain and Türkiye.

The training contributed to preparing the consortium for the subsequent implementation of Robots4Inclusion activities in primary schools across the participating countries.

Transnational Project Meeting in Barcelona

Following the training, the consortium held its second Transnational Project Meeting on 4 October 2024.

Partners reviewed the progress of the project, discussed the development of educational resources and addressed challenges and next steps.

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and coordinate the implementation of the project’s activities.

M&M Profuture Training’s Contribution

As the host organisation, M&M Profuture Training contributed to the organisation of the Barcelona activities and delivered the training component focused on Social and Emotional Learning.

This contribution reflected M&M’s experience in teacher training, innovative educational methodologies and inclusive education.

The event represented an important stage in the development of Robots4Inclusion, helping to connect the project’s educational framework with practical training approaches that could subsequently be transferred to schools.

Continuing the Robots4Inclusion Journey

Since the Barcelona training, Robots4Inclusion has continued developing educational resources, implementing classroom activities and evaluating the project’s outcomes across six countries.

Teachers and education professionals can now explore the project’s growing collection of training resources through its online learning platform.
